Garden Planning

Starting to plan what to grow in the garden this year. Popped down to Powerscourt garden centre and picked some seed potatoes and onion sets.
- Home Guard seed potato. 2.5Kg bag for €5.95. They are a first early variety. Once I chit them over the next few weeks they should be good to plant in March/April. According to the packaging, harvest 10~12 weeks after planting (June/July). This should allow for a second main crop in the vegetable bed
- Also picked up pack of onion sets, Centurion F1 (pack of 50 for €1.99), and shallots, Topper (pack of 15 for €2.29)

Raised beds have also dried out enough to be dug over. Also added the contents from three growbags I used for tomatoes last summer.

Had great success last year with a home made tunnel cloche made from some left over mains water piping cut into hops and clear sheet plastic. Some bamboos secured to the top of the hoops adds some lateral support.
