Plants To Sow in February

It is still a bit early to sow seeds outdoors but you can get an early start by sowing seeds indoors for later transplanting outside under a cloche in March.

Vegetable to consider sowing now include
  • Broad beans
  • I plan to sow some leeks indoor in pots this weekend and the remainder outdoors in March if the weather permits.
  • You can plant your garlic cloves and onion cloves outdoor.  I have over-wintered mine so I have no plans to plant any more this spring.
  • Still haven't started my peas yet but now is a suitable time to start them in a jar.
  •  Hope to also start off some lettuce seeds indoors in trays for planting out under cloche in March
The first batch of tomato seeds I sowed 2 weeks ago have all germinated. So far only about 50% of my chilies have germinated. I also plan to continue to sow more tomatoes and chillies this weekend.

Update: Second batch of chilli seeds plants this weekend. I have enough seed left for one more batch which I plan to sow at the beginning of March. Also planted some leeks, Hannibal, indoors in pots.
