All my raised beds are full so I need to eat some crops to make space for new vegetables. There has also been a huge amount of growth over the last few weeks and we have been eating more and more from the garden.
I have some potatoes that sprouted from a few tubers left in the ground from last year crop. I lifted one plant and had a good quantity of potatoes for weekend dinner. I still have enough plants left for a few more meals.
My Chinese cabbage and lettuce crops are also ready to eat. We are still eating plenty of radishes, daikon, and some dwarf beans.
By the end of the month I hope to start eating some of this year's tomatoes and sweetcorn. I currently have lots of flowers on my tomatoes and fruit has started to set. I have started to nip out the growing buds on the tomatoes to force the plants into putting their energy into fruit production rather than growing more shoots. Remember to feed with an organic tomato feed every week or so.
The first husks have also started to set on my sweetcorn. Looking forward to these ripening at the end of the month hopefully in time for this year's block party.
