Upside Down Tomato Planter

I came across a number of reviews on upside down planters for tomatoes. Some of the advantages being cited are

- Less soil borne pests and disease.
- Less trouble with weeds.
- No staking required.

Main advantage I see is that you don't need a garden or much space to grow tomatoes. You can hang one of these planters on a patio or balcony and enjoy easy access to fruit and vegetables.

Here is a good post detailing how to make your own upside down planter from an empty 2L bottle and duct tape (basic MacGyver stuff). I will have a go at the weekend at making one of these and transplant some of my tomato seedling. Other vegetables suitable for upside down planting are peppers, cucumbers, and herbs.
