Pictured above are my first crop of carrots and scallions. We have been eating endives for the last week. The carrot variety is Parmex, the scallions are White Lisbon, and mixed endives from 'The Taste of Italy' range from Thompson & Morgan . All were planted in mid-March.
I had these for my dinner this evening. Taste of the scallions and endives is great. Not so impressed with the carrots. I also have some Resistafly F1 carrots that will be ready in a week or two, so I am interested in the taste comparison.
I would recommending growing endives instead of lettuce. I prefer the taste, they are easy to grow, grow much denser so do not require much space. Harvesting endives as a cut-and-come-again crop means one sowing can last you through the summer. You can do this with some lettuce too but the endive have the edge on flavour.
