The Keep Of The Grass signs have been torn up and the lawn is ready to stand up to years of use (I hope). The first cutting of the grass was earlier in the week. I bought a new cylinder push mover from Lidl for €45 and with it set to its highest setting cut the grass for the first time. It created a rather large pile of fine grass clips that immediately went onto the compose heap. I gave the lawn a second cutting today and this time reducing the cut height to about 30mm.
The main problem I have is weed control in the lawn. I did not use any weed killer prior to sowing the lawn so quite a few weeds germinated along with the grass seed. I have been picking out handfuls of weeds prior to mowing. Any of the weed and feed dressings I have come across at the garden centre do not recommend use on lawns establish for less than a year. So I suppose for the moment I will have to continue to pull them out by land. Has anyone got any advice?
