Onion Bed

My onion bed has a mix of shallots, onions, and garlic that I planted back in March. They are looking very healthy and have the bulbs have started to bulk up in the last few weeks. I am hoping that some of the shallots and onions will be ready for harvesting in July. Not sure about the garlic as it is the first year growing it. I also planted the garlic cloves rather late in the season rather than last year in Oct/Nov.

This bed has required very little attention so far. I keep the weeds under control by running a small hand hoe between the rows every weekend. Only takes a few minutes. A small drop of water when the ground starts to dry out but avoid overwatering otherwise you can get rot. I have also started to nip off the flower buds as they appear at the top of the onion stems.
