Installing Underfloor Heating

Following on from last week's post I managed to get some more work done on the downstair toilet over the last 2 weeks.
  • Ducting pipes installed under the floor for electrics and any future services.
  • Hardcore compacted and levelled off with some builders sand.
  • 50mm Kingspan insulation sheets laid over the hardcore base. I allowed openings for toilet and shower service access.
  • Rerouted the existing water supply pipe through one of the ducts.
I laid a layer of plastic membrane on top of the insulation to prevent moisture and water from the screed reaching the insulation and forming a cold bridge. The underfloor piping is pinned to the insulation and laid out in a reverse spiral pattern to give a uniform heat distribution.

I am hoping to get a few strong friends over this weekend to help with mixing the screed and floating the floor.
