I spent a few busy hours on Saturday morning mixing and laying a screed on the floor of the downstairs toilet. I used a self levelling screed mixture of calcium sulphate binder and sand. This screed is designed for use with underfloor heating, is self levelling, and is easy to install. The main issue is that when mixed the screed starts to harden very quickly. It will start to set hard in 30 to 40mins. Within 2 or 3 hours after finishing the job I was able to walk on the floor and start to cleanup by trimming pack the excess of the plastic membrane and edge insulation that still protruded above the finished floor level.
Next I need to turn my attention to the walls and to removing most of the electrics from the old kitchen.
