Plasterboard Walls

A few weeks back I plasterboards the walls for the downstairs toilet. I thought I would put up some images of the before and after. The old kitchen electrics were ripped out and wall tiles removed to reveal the original walls in poor condition. Rather than going to the trouble of bonding and levelling the walls I decided to line the walls and ceiling with plasterboard. It seemed to be the easiest and quickest solution to getting the walls in good order for plastering and tiling.
Before attaching the plasterboard to the wall I sealed the old walls with PVA and then attached the plasterboard sheets with Gyproc Plasterboard Compound and M8 x 90 drywall support fixings. Keep the sheets 10~20mm of the ground to avoid moisture from the finished floor entering the bottom the the sheets over time. The gap will eventually be consealed by skirting. If you are looking for a bit more information on direct bonding plasterboard check out this post on Ultimate Handyman.
Materials:
  • Bag of 50 M8x90 insulation fixings €9.68
  • 25Kg Gyproc Compound €9.68
  • 10 sheets 8' x 4' x 3/8" plasterboard €8.60/sheet
