Shower Tray Seal

I like the idea of wetrooms but opted to use a shower tray as I have heard too many horror stories of leaking floors and drains in wetroom installations.

I also dislike the use of plastic tile profiles strips to form a seal between the shower tray and tiled wall. They always seem to become discoloured and grimy after a few years. Instead I have opted for a flexible upstand seal that is installed on the tray perimeter, tiled over, and the finished with a mould resistant flexible sealant.

Classi Seal (what a terrible name for a product) and Aquastrap are two readily available waterproof upstand. They are available in a number of lengths and installation instructions are on manufacturers websites.

Materials:
  • JT40 1000 x 800mm shower tray, €160.
  • Classi Seal 3.2m, €50.
  • Sealux-N silicone sealant, €7.
