I lifted the remainder of this year's onion crop this evening. We had been picking the larger onions over the last few weeks as we needed them for eating but since I needed the space in the raised bed to finishing dibbing in my leak it was time to lift them all. This year's crop was over wintered with the onion sets planted last October resulting in a crop ready to harvest a month earlier then last year.
The variety grown was 'Troy' with a 50 set pack costing about €2. In the end I got over 3 dozen onions. The sizes are not very uniform compared to last year crop so I might be picking a different variety this autumn when I plant this year's over winter crop.
