2016 Climbing at a Glance

When I started 2016 I was trying to reflect on where my climbing was at the beginning of 2015 and I could not remember so I decide to start to log all climbing session both indoor and outdoor. A €2 notebook and pen stuck in the front of my gear bag was all it took. Every few months I would transcribe the notes into Excel.

Being an engineer and loving simple presentation of data, the graph below gives a nice single image summary of my 2016 climbing.

Having this data also gets me thinking about what my 2017 climbing focus should be. I definitely want to shift my mean indoor and outdoor grade up a grade. I would like to start to become a solid 7a climber indoors but suspect this will require a lot of work. Outdoors I want to focus on some of the E grades but this is definitely going to involve working a lot on my head and overcoming fear.

New notebook purchased and of to Awesome Walls tomorrow.
