Finished Bathroom

In a previous post I gave an overview of the plastering, flooring, and tiling of my bathroom. Now it is time to install the new fittings and add the finishing touches. I am using the same type of concealed cistern I used for the downstairs toilet.

I boxed in the concealed cistern using panels I cut from white melamine birch plywood. It should require no finishing and will remain stable in the presence of moisture. I installed a Duravit Vero wall mounted sink and Duravit Starck 3 compact wall hung toilet which both give a nice contemporary look.

One of my goals with this bathroom remodel was to remove the need for tapes to fill the bath and to simplify the controls for the shower. I chose  a Mira Platinum pumped dual valve digital controller with a ceiling fed showerhead. Channel 1 of the controller feeds the showerhead and channel 2 fills the bath via an overflow bath filler. A wall mounted digital controller in the shower wirelessly controls the shower and bath flow rate and temperature.

The addition of a small pullout unit made from birch plywood offcuts made good use of the space between the bath and wall, and provides storage for various bathroom items.

I am very happy with the end result and like the clean look achieved with the simple materials and colour palette.
