Weekend Jobs 2011-05-29

• Keep on top of weeds with a light hoe around the plants to disturb the soil surface and uproot any young weeds.
• I nipped out any sideshoots on the tomatoes I transplanted at the end of April.
• Transplanted the last of my chillies from trays into plastic cups. Hopefully a second treatment with an organic spray on the chillies should kill off the remainder of the greenfly.
• The few strayberries I have are growing nicely. I probably should cover then with some netting to keep the birds from eating them as they ripen.
• My red currants and gooseberry bushes have a bumper crop of fruit setting. I will put up a post later with some pictures.
• Planted chinese cabbage, squash, and courgettes in trays in the outside propagator.
• Continuing to plant radishes and daikon at 2 week intervals.
