Gap of Dunloe Climbing Meet 2012

I took Friday off work to head down to the Gap of Dunloe climbing meet. We left Dublin early Friday morning with a few friends with the intention of getting in a climb in the afternoon but got rained out when we arrived at the Gap. The weather was a bit of an anticlimax to a 4 hour drive.

We pitched our tents in Con's field behind the Dunloe Golf Course, played a round of crazy golf and drank a few beers to drown our sorrows. Saturday brought better weather so we headed down to the Gap to Carraig Ceannann crag where I climbed Cuchulainn (30m HVS 5a) with Carlos, and Ming climbed Ferdia (26m HVS 5a) with Andres. Two great climbs with committed finishes. Later in the afternoon we moved onto Cub Crag where I got spat out of Bats (10m E1 5c).

Sunday was a great day and we climbed on Rescue Rock. Above is a picture of me on Quartz Movement (10m VS 4c). I seconded Mother of Prague (20m E1 5b) and later tried The Crazy Horseman (9m E1 easier escape route). Headed back to Dublin in the late afternoon to a warm shower and some well deserved hot food.
